Privacy Policy for SelfStudio

Last Updated: September 12, 2026

Introduction

Welcome to SelfStudio ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (SelfStudio).

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When using SelfStudio, you may provide the following types of information:

  • Personal Goals: Text describing your goals and plans to achieve them
  • Affirmations: Text of your personal affirmations
  • Vision Board Items: Images and descriptions you add to your vision board
  • Daily Activity Records: Information about your daily manifestation activities and notes
  • Preferences: App settings such as theme preferences and notification settings
  • Onboarding Preferences: During onboarding you may provide gender, ethnicity, and age range to personalize your experience. This information is stored locally unless you explicitly create a cloud backup
  • Photos: If you choose an AI-powered visualization, your reference photo is sent to our AI service provider for that request. If you separately choose Cloud Backup, partner and vision-board images may also be stored with your backup until you delete it. Your profile photo is not included in Cloud Backup

Information Collected Automatically

The app collects certain information automatically through our analytics and service providers, including:

  • User ID: An account identifier generated by our authentication providers to identify your account
  • Device ID: Device-level identifiers used by our analytics provider for understanding app usage
  • Usage Data: Information about how you interact with the app, such as screen views, feature usage, taps, and session data
  • Performance Data: Technical metrics such as app launch time, responsiveness, and session replay data to help us improve app quality
  • Purchase Data: Information about your in-app purchases and subscription status, managed by our payment provider

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the app's core functionality, including AI-powered features
  • Save and display your personal content locally, and create a cloud recovery snapshot only when you choose Back Up Now
  • Generate personalized AI visualizations and suggestions
  • Process and manage in-app purchases and subscriptions
  • Track your progress with manifestation activities
  • Enable notification features when you opt-in
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the app experience
  • Monitor app performance and diagnose technical issues

Data Storage

Your personal content (goals, affirmations, scripts, vision board, tracking data, and onboarding preferences) is stored locally on your device by default. We do not continuously synchronize or automatically back up this content. If you choose Back Up Now in Settings, a point-in-time copy and the media needed to restore it are stored with your account. Later changes remain only on that device until you manually back up again.

A backup created by an earlier version of SelfStudio may remain available for recovery. Older versions are prevented from updating it automatically; you can replace or delete it from Settings.

AI-generated images, audio, and videos may be stored in cloud storage associated with your user ID so those requested features can complete and recover. Analytics and usage data are stored on PostHog's servers. Purchase and subscription data are stored by RevenueCat.

Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services that may collect and process your data:

  • Clerk: Used for account authentication and session management. Clerk receives account and authentication information. Clerk Privacy Policy
  • Convex: Used for app backend functions, requested AI media, and cloud backups you explicitly create. Convex receives your user ID and data required for those features. Convex Privacy Policy
  • Firebase (Google): Used for anonymous authentication, cloud functions (AI processing), cloud storage (generated images), and database. Firebase receives your anonymous user ID and AI-generated content. Firebase Privacy Policy
  • PostHog: Used for analytics, session replay, and performance monitoring. PostHog collects your anonymous user ID, device information, usage data, and performance metrics. PostHog Privacy Policy
  • RevenueCat: Used to manage in-app purchases and subscriptions. RevenueCat receives your anonymous user ID and purchase/subscription information. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
  • OpenRouter: Used as an AI service provider for generating images and suggestions. OpenRouter may process text prompts and reference photos you provide for AI features. OpenRouter may retain inputs in de-identified form for analytics and service improvement. OpenRouter Privacy Policy
  • Expo: Used for app development, updates, and distribution

The app requests the following permissions:

  • Internet Access: Required for AI features, analytics, purchases, and app functionality
  • Photo Library Access: Required when you choose to add images to your vision board or provide a reference photo for AI visualization
  • Camera Access: Required if you choose to take a photo for AI visualization
  • Notifications: Required only if you enable reminders
  • Vibration: Used for haptic feedback in the app interface

Data Sharing & Tracking

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for third-party advertising or tracking purposes. Data is shared with our third-party service providers only as necessary to provide the app's features as described above.

We use anonymous authentication, meaning we do not collect your name, email address, or phone number unless you voluntarily provide it (for example, in a feedback form).

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal information stored in the app
  • Delete your locally stored data by uninstalling the application
  • Delete a manually created cloud backup from Settings without deleting the data on your current device
  • Request deletion of your data stored on our servers by contacting us
